Allen AME Pantry (Tacoma, WA)
St. Rita Parish collects and delivers groceries to the pantry on the fourth weekend of each month.
Baby Corner (Seattle, WA)
Baby Corner attends to the physical needs of infants and young children in poverty. The parish community is encouraged to bring formula, food, and basic baby supplies throughout the year to the crib in the sanctuary.
Center for Community Action and Service Learning (Spokane, WA)
The Center for Community Action and Service Learing is a resource center for students, faculty, and community partners who are engaged in curricular and co-curricular community service initiatives. It empowers students to take action through community involvement, education, and public service to strive for social justice.
Food Connection (Tacoma, WA)
St. Leo’s parishioners started the Food Connection in 1982. In 2004 we served more than 117,000 people, over half of who were children or seniors. In 2008, our Urban Gleaning program collected over 1.5 million pounds of food from a variety of wholesale providers, commercial and private farms, and local food drives. Unlike many local food banks we are open five days a week (including Saturdays) throughout the year and our clients are able to get food once a week. We are also a designated infant-feeding site, and distribute baby food, infant formula and diapers.
Jubilee Battered Women's Shelter (Seattle, WA)
St. Joseph's supports the Jubilee Battered Women's Shelter through both direct service and donations in an effort to aid this vulnerable community of women and their children rebuild lives shattered by domestic violence.
Nativity House hospitality kitchen (Tacoma, WA)
Holy Name Society prepares and serves a monthly meal for the street people and the homeless at Nativity House with School of Religion students preparing cupcakes for dessert.
Science Outreach Program to Native Americans (Spokane, WA)
IGonzaga has a historic commitment to the Indian people of the Northwest, and GIEOP is one of Gonzaga's outward expressions of its original mission. GIEOP works with its partner schools on the Colville and Spokane Indian Reservations through a service leaning class that is based in the Biology department. GIEOP also supports teacher education in inquiry-based science learning and culturally-relevant curriculum development.

Emergency Services
St. Leo St. Vincent de Paul Conference in Partnership with St. Leo Emergency Services consists of volunteers who help people in need when they come to the rectory. They also provide emergency services by networking with other social service agencies. Additionally, they give out vouchers for household goods from the St. Vincent de Paul Store. They meet monthly to pray and to consider how they can best be of service to our brothers and sisters in need. Some of the Vincentians serve as receptionists for the parish; others participate as Sandwich Brigade Members or Walkabouters. St. Leo Emergency Services is always in need of donations of toothbrushes, disposable razors, socks, and (ATTN: TRAVELERS) travel size shampoos, toothpastes, deodorants, soaps, and lotions.
St. Leo Eco-Spirit Group
The mission of St. Leo’s Eco-Spirit Group is to be a spiritual catalyst, enhancing each parishioner’s awareness of God in our earthly and cosmic surroundings; and to promote individual and communal commitment in preserving and protecting our environment. Ecology, stewardship, and simplicity are considered through prayer, reflection and action. We welcome all who are interested, for it is through diverse voices that common goals can be achieved.
Noah’s Pet Project
Noah’s Pet Project is a free pet clinic for elderly, homeless or needy people in the community. The clinic is open from 1:00 to 3:00 on the second Saturday of every month at Doggie Day Care, 6th & No. Oakes. The clinic provides vaccines and outpatient care to cats and dogs. They also supply food and flea products, depending on donations. Volunteers are needed to help at the clinic. In addition, the Pet Project is in need of monetary donations to purchase vaccines and medicines. Also needed are cleaning supplies, paper towels, pet food, and pet dishes. Donations can be left in the large baskets in the hospitality area or dropped into the collection at St. Leo (marked “Noah’s” on the envelope or in the memo line).
The Sandwich Brigade
The Sandwich Brigade is made up of teams of at least four people who supply sandwich fixins and make sandwiches that Operation Keep ‘em Warm & Fed distributes to people who are homeless. This is a monthly commitment and is a great project for families!
Walkabouters and Talkabouters
Walkabouters and Talkabouters are parishioners who make a commitment to walk around the neighborhood to get acquainted with neighbors and folks who are eating at the Hospitality Kitchen. They are well-known for the Hershey’s kisses they pass out! Walkabouts usually take place at 7:00 a.m. and 10:30 a.m., Monday through Saturday. Folks who are “talkabouters” can come any time the Hospitality Kitchen is open. Commitments are flexible.
The L'Honey Program
The L’Honey Program is a collaborative venture between St. Leo Parish and L’Arche Farm that promotes sustainable beekeeping and hive product development that supports the social business model. Our focus is on education, care for the environment, and the inclusion of vulnerable adults in business and agricultural activities.
St Francis House (Seattle, WA)
St Francis House, at 169 12th Ave in Central Seattle, provides a unique service offering free clothing and household items to about 100 homeless, mentally ill or low-income individuals per day. It is a gathering place for the forgotten, the suffering and the deprived to enjoy a hot cup of coffee, a snack, and companionship.
St. Joseph Winter Shelter (Seattle, WA)
The St. Joseph Winter Shelter provides overnight shelter and ‘meal bags’ for 14 homeless men, age 50 and older, 5 nights a week from October through April. The program tries to offer a nights rest in an environment of dignity, respect and safety.
St. Martin de Porres Saturday Lunches (Seattle, WA)
St. Joseph’s parishioners and volunteers support St. Martin de Porres Shelter by making and serving sandwiches, boiled eggs, fruit and milk for men age 50 and older each Saturday of the month. We have a separate team of 20-25 people for each Saturday of the month. On some Saturdays in addition to sandwiches volunteers bring hot dogs and buns. Volunteers make the food in the comfort of their own homes once a month and then drop them off at church hospitality Room. Food can be dropped off Monday-Saturday 8am-4:30pm.
St. Rita at Guadalupe House (Tacoma, WA)
St. Rita Parish provides groceries, prepared food and hygiene items.
St. Rita at Peace Lutheran (Tacoma, WA)
St. Rita Parish prepares and serves a meal in April and October at Peace Lutheran Church in Tacoma.
St. Rita at Phoenix House (Tacoma, WA)
Parishioners help families in transitional housing by preparing and serving a meal and chaperoning an overnight at Visitation Parish.
St. Rita's Hunger Walk/Thanksgiving Baskets (Tacoma, WA)
Parents club participates in the Associated Ministries Annual Hunger Walk. Parents Club collects and delivers food for Thanksgiving to designated families through CCS.
St. Vincent de Paul (Seattle , WA)
Inspired by Gospel values, the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, a Catholic lay organization, leads women and men to join together to grow spiritually by offering person-to-person service to those who are needy and suffering in the tradition of its founder, Blessed Frédéric Ozanam, and patron, St. Vincent de Paul.
