Heritage Center / Red Cloud Museum (Pine Ridge, SD)
The Heritage Center of Red Cloud Indian School opened as a museum in 1982. It offers to the public - local, national, and international - an outstanding collection of Native American fine arts and Lakota tribal arts, located on the main campus of Red Cloud Indian School.
Kateri NW Ministry Institute (Spokane, WA)
The Institute started in 1989 to empower Native Americans to minister to their own people and continue their catholic identity. The institutes training deals with alcohol/dysfnctional families and enriches the Catholic Tradition through the gifts of Native American Culture.
Outreach to the Cheyenne River Reservation (Wilmette, IL)
Students visit the Cheyenne River Reservation and offer service to the community.
Red Cloud Indian School / Holy Rosary Mission (Pine Ridge, SD)
In 1888, Holy Rosary became the first Catholic Indian Mission on the Pine Ridge Reservation. The school later honored the name of this great Lakota leader, becoming Red Cloud Indian School. For more than a century, Red Cloud Indian School has sought to give the Lakota students the skills they need to compete in a larger society while retaining the traditional values of their Lakota heritage.
Red Cloud Volunteers (Pine Ridge, SD)
The Red Cloud Volunteer Program invites men and women to serve the Oglala Lakota people of the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation through work in Jesuit Schools and Parishes on the reservation. Red Cloud volunteers work with students of all ages at each of the three Red Cloud Schools as teachers, counselors, and youth ministers.
Rocky Mountain Mission (RMM) (Portland, OR)
RMM ministers to Native American Peoples in parishes throughout Washington, Oregon, Idaho and Montana and through the Kateri NW Ministry Institute. Its goal is to promote understanding respect, and cooperation among all of the spiritual ways alive among the Indian Peoples living both on and off the reservations.
Science Outreach Program to Native Americans (Spokane, WA)
IGonzaga has a historic commitment to the Indian people of the Northwest, and GIEOP is one of Gonzaga's outward expressions of its original mission. GIEOP works with its partner schools on the Colville and Spokane Indian Reservations through a service leaning class that is based in the Biology department. GIEOP also supports teacher education in inquiry-based science learning and culturally-relevant curriculum development.
Sioux Spiritual Center (Howes , SD)
Nestled in the breaks of western South Dakota, the Sioux Spiritual Center reflects the ongoing dedication of the Rapid City Catholic Diocese and the Wisconsin Province of the Society of Jesus to the spiritual and social well-being of the Lakota people. The center, built by the Diocese and staffed by Jesuits, offers a variety of spirital and educational programs. Here the Jesuits and the diocese strive to create a sacred environment, a place between Heaven and Earth (Mahpiya na Maka Okogna in the Lakota language), where God's Spirit and the Lakota people become one.
St. Stephens Indian School (St Stephens, WY)
A K-12 school, funded by the Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA), the school addresses the needs of the St. Stephens community. St. Stephens Indian School's goal is to provide a challenging and supportive learning environment for all students. This will be accomplished in a safe and orderly environment for students and staff. It is the school's hope that St. Stephens staff, parents, students and interested community members will work together toward this goal.
The Buechel Memorial Lakota Museum (St. Francis , SD)
The Buechel Memorial Lakota Museum in St. Francis, South Dakota demonstrates the Mission’s enduring respect for the traditions, culture, and history of the Lakota of the Rosebud Reservation. Named after Father Eugene Buechel, S.J., a noted missionary, linguist, and ethnologist who came to St. Francis Mission in 1902, the museum contains many unique artifacts, images, and documents.
